Experts argue that Houthi military strategy relies on indiscriminate violence, showing total disregard for the protection of civilians.

The reckless deployment of ballistic missiles and drones exposes countless populations to immediate danger in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

On September 8, Houthis launched a massive, coordinated attack against energy sites and civilian facilities throughout southern Saudi Arabia.

Strikes hitting Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran caused significant devastation, according to official reports from Saudi authorities.

This aggressive assault resulted in one confirmed death and left 73 civilians, including women and children, severely injured.

These incidents highlight a clear, repetitive pattern of violence that forces innocent civilians to pay for ongoing military escalation.

Regional danger from cross-border attacks

Muhammed al-Omda, head of the Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms, warned against the dangerous regional implications of these strikes.

"Expanding warfare into Saudi territory fundamentally destabilizes the region and places thousands of vulnerable civilian lives at risk," he told Al-Fassel.

Experts emphasize that the right to protection transcends arbitrary borders, whether civilians reside in Sanaa, Taiz, Marib, Jazan, Najran or Taif.

Yemen's Deputy Minister of Justice Faisal al-Majeedi asserts that Houthi warfare tactics completely disregard international humanitarian law and human rights standards.

This calculated aggression only fuels further regional instability while Yemen simultaneously struggles under the crushing weight of war and displacement.

Escalating displacement and humanitarian suffering

Al-Majeedi noted that Houthi escalation in the West Coast regions and Taiz city has forced massive numbers of terrified residents to flee.

Military operations involving heavy artillery and drone strikes have created an environment where survival remains a daily, desperate struggle.

The Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights recently confirmed that brutal Houthi attacks since September have claimed the lives of 150 Yemeni civilians.

The expanding fighting is triggering a rapidly growing displacement crisis, driving more than 130,000 people to flee their homes, UNHCR spokesperson Babar Baloch said on September 22.

Taiz remains the epicenter of the crisis, Baloch said, accounting for more than 60 percent of overall displacement.

These devastating statistics reveal Houthi's total contempt for human life and their deliberate choice of targets within populated areas.

Calls for international accountability rising

International condemnation is mounting rapidly against these cowardly attacks targeting defenseless civilians across Yemen and within Saudi Arabian borders.

"This conduct is not resistance, but rather the intentional, systematic infliction of harm upon innocent people," al-Majeedi said.

Activists globally are intensifying calls for the protection of non-combatants, the cessation of unlawful strikes and improved humanitarian aid access.

Justice requires thorough investigations and full accountability for these perpetrators who treat civilian lives as disposable assets of war.
