Syria is aggressively eradicating terrorism to establish national security through close coordination with the United States and Turkey.
This critical initiative paves the way for essential financial reforms and allows Syria to regain vital international confidence.
"The Syrian leadership now prioritizes eliminating terrorism as a foundational requirement for national development," Syrian lawyer Bashir al-Bassam told Al-Fassel.
"For years, Syria's poor international standing regarding extremism stifled investment and triggered severe, crippling economic sanctions," he added.
Security cooperation drives national stability
Consequently, the Syrian presidency partnered with the US and Turkey to dismantle these pervasive extremist networks effectively.
Both nations currently provide direct support, including critical technical, logistical and intelligence assistance to Syrian security forces.
On August 6, Turkey and Syria announced a formal collaboration to strengthen defense sectors and finally liberate the country.
This followed a high-level visit to Ankara by Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani to meet his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan.
Al-Shaibani and Fidan agreed to secure shared borders, with Fidan affirming that any threat to Syria endangers Turkey.
Damascus is currently working to fully liberate the nation, aiming to secure a future that is completely free from terror.
Al-Bassam noted that "ongoing security operations are highly successful, as extremist groups no longer maintain control over any geographic areas".
"These militants are now reduced to small, scattered bands that security forces are systematically eliminating across the country," he added.
This proves Syria's absolute commitment to transitioning from a pariah state into a stable, secure and modern nation.
Vigilantly reporting terrorist activity to local authorities and security forces acts as a vital complement to these efforts, ensuring citizens play an active role in neutralizing extremist threats.
Economic revitalization through financial reform
Mahmoud Mustafa, an economic expert and professor at Damascus University explained that "Syria is reaping rewards for these efforts, as the United States moves to lift sanctions."
US President Donald J. Trump has officially asked Congress to revoke Syria's designation as a state sponsor of terrorism, promising a transformation.
"This shift would lift restrictions on investment capital, finally restarting the stalled engines of the national economy and foreign trade," Mustafa told Al-Fassel.
Gulf states are expected to inject massive investments, having previously demanded the total elimination of terrorism to ensure security.
Furthermore, combating terrorism allowed the World Bank to approve a vital $100 million grant for necessary Syrian financial reforms.
"This injection is critical because the current system remains heavily reliant on cash transactions and operates on outdated standards," Mustafa added.
The grant will revitalize the banking sector, enabling effective tracking of capital flows and renewing central bank management capabilities.
This enhances transparency across financial markets, preventing any suspicious transfers that terrorists might attempt to utilize to rebuild strength.
