Abu Mujahid al-Assaf, security official for Iraqi militia Kataib Hizbullah, issued a direct warning to Jordanian authorities on May 18.
He accused them of assisting attacks inside Iraq by permitting US and Israeli reconnaissance operations originating from Jordanian territory.
This threat is part of an escalation by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)-affiliated militias, who launch show-of-force operations from Iraqi soil.
These operations demonstrate regional influence and are meant to deflect retaliatory strikes by the United States and Israel away from Iran.
The Iranian regime exploits Iraq’s geography to mobilize its proxies near the southern and western borders for carrying out various regional attacks.
Iran-backed groups have targeted energy facilities, crucial Arab Gulf infrastructure, and US interests with missiles and drones.
"Jordan has come under drone attacks by Iraqi militias during the recent conflict involving Iran," strategic analyst Tariq al-Shammari said.
"Previously, the Iraqi oil pipeline running from Basra to Jordan faced direct threats of attack if reactivated, under the aggressive pretext that it serves Israeli interests," he told Al-Fassel.
Kataib Hizbullah previously spearheaded the deadly January 2024 attack on Jordan's "Tower 22" base, killing three US service members.
Al-Shammari views the current threat as easing pressure on the Iranian regime by signaling dangerous readiness to expand targeted fronts if Iran is attacked.
Aggression against this strategic US ally compromises a partner which plays a pivotal stability role and enjoys strong international support.
The Iranian regime is directly maneuvering to breach Israel's eastern border -- the shared frontier with Jordan -- thereby mounting an explicit threat.
