Shia opposition mounts against Hizbullah for dragging Lebanon into war

The voices of Shia activists are now forcefully rising in protest against Hizbullah, following its reckless decision to join the Middle East war in retaliation for the killing of Khamenei.

Hizbullah's act of retribution for the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has ignited a fierce, growing wave of opposition within the Shia community.

Following Hizbullah's March 1st missile launch at Israel in vengeance for Khamenei's death, the collective voice of Shia activists and citizens erupted against its actions.

The objectors condemned Hizbullah for plunging Lebanon into a war that exclusively served the Iranian regime's interests.

This conflict has displaced thousands of civilians, devastating their property and the Lebanese economy with its heavy, unbearable cost.

Shia citizens are now openly confronting Hizbullah, channeling their fury through defiant video clips.

In one viral message, political activist Hadi Murad issued a denouncement: "You are a party without a conscience; you are traitors to the Shia sect."

Shouting from his car in Beirut, he continued, "there is nothing left for us to fear. No - the Shia are not with you."

Shia journalist Badia Fahs, a native of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, wrote on her Facebook page: "Say it with me: Hizbullah is a traitor."

A regional conflict

This demonstrates the potent opposition within the Shia community rejecting Hizbullah's betrayal of Lebanon's interests to serve the Iranian regime's regional conflict.

"The Shia majority saw no justification for Hizbullah launching missiles at Israel. Hizbullah has dragged the Shias, and Lebanon, into a needless regional war," Ali al-Amin, a political analyst and opponent of Hizbullah, told Al-Fassel.

Shia dissidents demand the state alone hold arms, in order to guarantee sovereignty, stability and security.

"The citizens, still reeling from the last war, now face a new one, displacement and fresh burdens with absolutely no financial resources," al-Amin added.

Anger among residents

A wave of anger is spreading across southern Lebanon, the Southern Suburbs of Beirut and other regions.

Residents are furious, having been forcibly displaced for a second time by Hizbullah's war with Israel, as the first war was on October 8, 2023.

"The Shia community's soaring opposition to Hizbullah is driven by a stark realization that they are victims trapped in an endless conflict," political writer Ahmed Ayash told Al-Fassel.

"There is profound disillusionment regarding the current war, as well as the sheer scale of the destruction and displacement it has caused," he added.

Hizbullah's glaring failure to serve its base now fuels even more severe, escalating opposition.

The aftermath of this war guarantees the group's inability to meet the Shia community's crucial needs.

The resistance is more honourable than you, Sowers of discord, you he Zionists of within. Purify yourselves from hatred, for the blood of our martyrs is more honourable, purer, and cleaner than the likes of you.

We, as Lebanese citizens loyal to our country, must shed light on such matters to reveal the truth to the many Lebanese who are unaware of their country's best interests. Thank you.

Do those you mentioned represent the Shia? They are, in fact, agents of the American embassy and the Zionist forces.

The Lebanese Hizbullah and the Iraqi Hizbullah must be eliminated and sent to Iran to defend it, leaving Lebanon and Iraq to their own people.

Hizbullah is not a foolish or reckless party, and the Lebanese people know this very well. A party that has defended them for 40 years, liberated southern Lebanon, and protected Lebanon from ISIS deserves respect and appreciation. Its patience in the face of the killing of its leaders, members, and even civilians for 15 months is proof of that, as is the fact that it left the responsibility of protecting the people and the land to the state for more than a year.

However, when the state failed to protect the south and its people forced the party into this new war.

I do not believe that the Shias have anything more valuable than their own lives to allow other sects to live at the expense of their blood; either everyone lives, or everyone dies—there is no difference between one citizen and another.

The President and the Prime Minister will perhaps learn that responsibility means protecting the country, not merely attending events and going on trips at the state’s expense.

If the state had been able to protect the south and prevent any war on Lebanon, there would not have been a resistance against the Israeli occupation in the first place.
When the Lebanese state keeps silent over the daily killings that had been taking place in Lebanon for 15 months forced the party to defend itself, and this is a natural right for any person.
I don’t know whether what is required is for the President of Lebanon to submit to Trump in order to stop the Israeli attacks on his country—if he did, no one would have blamed him. But it is his betrayal that has brought this country to devastation.

There is no Shiite base that opposes Hizbullah.

Lies. A worthless and insignificant small group cannot represent the people of the South. The majority of Southerners support the war, that is the truth.

You broadcast from America to spread lies and discord.

Hizbullah defends Lebanon.

Lebanon, including all of its sects, is against the Iranian-backed Hizbullah. Even a large segment of our Shia brothers are now against the party because it killed their youth, destroyed their homes, disrupted their livelihoods, and displaced half of the Lebanese population from their villages and towns, leaving them on the streets and in shelters after they had been living in dignity and respect at their homes. All of this was done to support Iran's positions and back that country in order to get financial and other support from it.

No to war!

I do not side with anyone—neither with Hizbullah nor with anyone else—for it is possible that Hizbullah has dragged Lebanon into a prolonged war.

We are living amidst the community; may Allah bring this war to a peaceful end.

Your argument is illogical, as deep inside people feel that the state has long been absent and is not even capable of protecting the Lebanese, let alone liberating the land from the Zionist enemy. People know that resistance is the only option to deter the Zionists. Although people do not like war or displacement, there is no alternative but to confront the occupation. The opportunity came after 15 months of violations and the killing of young people one after another. Meanwhile, the state failed to stop the attacks through diplomacy. (The decision of war and peace lies solely in the hands of the Zionist aggressor.)

I'm with Hizbullah. May Allah protect the Party!

Let those who support this party that is rejected in Lebanon, and who are working for the benefit of the Iranian state and are in fact foreign agents, go and fight for them in the South.

We are all ready to sacrifice in resistance against the Israeli enemy on our land of Lebanon, to liberate our soil and prevent Israel from violating the sovereignty of our airspace, land, and sea.

This is not true; stop fabricating lies about the Party. The missiles certainly did not cause the war. I say that if there had been a state to protect its people, the Party would not have been compelled to take up arms.

They want to restrict the possession of weapons? Who the hell are they to restrict the possession of the very weapons that defended their honour and our dignity? A spit on such people, and on such a state! Pah!

Everyone is against the Party, why? Who was it that defended your honour, you dishonorable wretches? In fact, were it not for the Party, the President of the Republic wouldn't even be sitting in his seat right now. At least young men went out and sacrificed their lives defending the homeland, whereas the Army simply withdrew from the southern territories. Bah on such people and such state.

Frankly, all those opposed to Hezbollah remain opposed; I have encountered no new figures who have defected from the Party. Regrettably, young men continue to sacrifice their bodies and souls for the sake of the Party; mothers continue to mourn their sons—only to bear others; Lebanon continues to suffer ever-greater destruction; and innocent people continue to lose their property and their lives because of this hideous war.

For fifteen months, the Zionist enemy has engaged in killing, bombardment, destruction, and land encroachment—yet this segment, subservient and submissive to the dictates of foreign colonial powers, has neither spoken out, nor taken action, nor issued a single condemnation. Isn't this strange?
It is a humiliated Shiite faction, acting under the orders of the Zionist enemy. And tomorrow, the reckoning shall be severe. Peace be upon you.
