The announcement of readiness for regional escalation by the Iranian-backed Iraqi militia Harakat Hizbullah al-Nujaba (HHN) provides clear evidence of its overt subservience to Iran’s agenda.

Its stance represents a deviation from the path of security and prosperity that Iraq is pursuing.

The militia group, led by the terrorism-listed Akram al-Kaabi, has long functioned as an active Iranian arm for regional interference.

It remains a foremost proxy relied upon by the Tehran regime to advance its interests and geopolitical ambitions.

To carry out Iranian dictates, the movement has established a "close cooperation strategy" with the Houthi group in Yemen

Al-Nujaba Movement leader Firas al-Yasser told the Iranian news agency Tasnim in November that the two sides are currently focused on strengthening intelligence and technical coordination.

They are currently establishing joint operations rooms and actively preparing to lead any future regional military operations, he added.

Utilizing Houthi missile technology

Reports point to the militia's desire to leverage the Houthis' missile expertise and technology to enhance its offensive capabilities.

The group is working with other factions of the Iranian axis to implement a sophisticated security program that involves fortifying its leadership and headquarters using modern communication technologies.

This program includes a rapid response plan to any escalatory directives issued by Iranian commanders.

The al-Nujaba Movement serves as the spearhead of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in threatening the Middle East.

Devoting all its human and military resources to this purpose comes at the cost of disregarding the well-being, security, and future of the Iraqi people.

Iran-backed puppets

"Al-Nujaba has played, and continue to play, a pivotal role in imposing Iran's hegemony and its expansionist project," security expert Alaa al-Nashou told Al-Fassel.

Iran manipulates all the militias as puppets throughout the region to serve its influence, he said.

"The militias do not have the authority to make any independent decisions and never deviate from the will of the Iranians," he added.

"They are ideologically and organizationally linked to the Supreme Leader’s order, who uses them as tools of destruction in the region," he said.

Al-Nashou emphasized Iran's pursuit of creating problems and threatening regional escalation.

"Iran achieves this by directing its regional proxies to increase military, intelligence, and technical coordination and cooperation, positioning them for the implementation of any future orders," he said.

The Iranian regime's commitment to its chaotic projects reveals a determination to prevent Iraqis and other regional peoples from living in peace.

The influx of weapons and technology to the militias confirms Iran's hostile approach of creating crises and fueling conflicts.
